According to the British “Daily Mail” reported on January 21st , a new British study shows, wearing thick socks can effectively prevent catching a cold. Because of the cold feet may increase the risk of infection with influenza virus.
Ron Eccles , a Doctor in British Cardiff University Cold Research Center, has been exploring this issue more than 25 years, he said,”in fact, the cold and flu viruses have been already lurking in their nasal cavity , but they don’t cased any symptoms.”
“If the temperature of the feet drop, it can cause nose temperature also decrease. Cold feet will make the nasal capillary vessels contract , it is a protective reflex, which reduce the body heat dissipation as far as possible. If the nasal blood flow reduce, the white blood cells in blood also will reduce.” he added,”the cold can also make the nasal cilia movement slows down, so the virus will enter. Waling barefoot in the house, turning off the heat or wearing the thin shoes in winter will also increase the risk of catching a cold.”
So in the winter, you need to prepare some thick socks!
